About Us

Vision

Assist in building the cultural identity of the country while conserving the rural cultural traditions in the area, by protecting and promoting cultural inheritance in a manner which cordial relationships between different communities are ensured and adjustments to modern changes are made appropriately.

Mission

Create a society which comprises child population with creative intellects and high values, and inherit civilized and sensitive citizens to the society through conservation and promotion of classical cultural values in the area.

Objectives

  • Conserve local cultural and art traditions by conducting skills development programmes.
  • Launch projects aiming at spiritual development of citizens which is a pre-requisite for righteous society.
  • Add sensitive people to society through improving appreciating abilities.
  • Identify cultural potentials in the area (folk-tales, beliefs, rituals etc.) and disseminate them at nation level.
  • Take measures to improve the skills and talents of children and bring-up them to national plain.
  • Create a peaceful environment in the area that all communities can live in harmony, irrespective of differences on social and religious grounds.

History

This cultural center was opened by Hon. Lakshman Jayakody, then Minister of Cultural Affairs, on 11.11.1999.
