To mould a supportive and innovative man of culture who is nourished with fertile values of past heritage for the progress of present - day society.
Mission
To conserve and promote indigenous cultural elements which are on rapid disappearance applying expertise and techniques of divisional, national and international artistes. To produce musical and dance items, paintings, sculptures of national and international level. To build a prosperous and delightful society through training and empowerment of resource persons who shoulder literature, culture, criticism and appreciation along with officers and assistants.
Objectives
- To train the staff of the Ministry of Culture and the Arts and divisional cultural centers
- To train the staff of other departments and organizations functioning under the Ministry.
- To train artistes in pools maintained by the Ministry for foreign tours
- To train resource persons
- To be a physical and human resource center by facilitating trainings of other external organizations
- To launch especial programs for the promotion of culture and personality
History
This cultural Centre was declared open by the Hon. Minister of Cultural Affairs and National Heritage, Mahinda Yapa Abeywardene on 26 December 2008.
