Vision

The culture moulds and shapes our vision of future. The society without cultural elements will be thrown into total confusion. The development devoid of cultural orientation will be spiritless.

Mission

To present sensitive and disciplined persons to the society by conserving classical cultural elements, promoting the culture nurtured upon such elements and propagating the same among the public

Objectives

  • To take necessary action for the conservation, promotion and propagation of culture in the Divisional Secretary’s Division of Haputale.
  • To raise the talents and skills of the younger generation to mould a sensitive and virtuous community.
  • To provide culture based services to religious, national and social events.
  • To provide library service

History

This cultural Centre was opened by the Hon. Minister of Education, Culture and Information and Badulla District Parliamentarian, W.J.M.Lokubandara on the sixth day in the month of Vesak in the Buddhist year 2533. On the instruction of the Deputy Minister of Culture and Religious Affairs, Hon. Prof. A. V. Suraweera, this Cultural Centre was restructured later and re-opened by the veteran artiste Ms. Sybil Wetttasingha with the participation of the Minister of Women’s Affairs and Badulla district Parliamentarian, Hon. Ms. Hewaratnayake on 10 January 1999.
