About Us

Vision

To conserve the identity of culture which is the life of Sri Lankan nation hand in hand with the people in the area, promote the same to be consistent with the present day society and to build a disciplined society maintaining cordial and respectful relations with them.

Mission

To cater to the cultural needs of the people in the area, to protect places and monuments of cultural value, to safeguard the divisional cultural identity and to nurture the values of people in the area  with the assistance of the enormous strength provided by the Ministry of Culture and the Arts.

  • To safeguard traditional cultural heritage which is on deterioration
  • To bestow the glorious culture of Sri Lanka to the future generation.
  • To prevent the change of folk games, folk songs, folk dance, Sinhala Language and the Buddhism with the changing society and to carry out activities to promote the culture
  • To identify causes of cultural downfall.
  • To assist the glorious Sri Lankan culture to rise to the top of the world.

History

This Uva Paranagama S. B. Dematagahawatta Memorial Cultural Center was inaugurated by the veteran artiste, Mr. Kalansuriya on 10 March 2000.
